Jennifer is a mom of 2 children (a tween daughter and a 6 year old son), 2 large dogs (including a Great Dane who thinks he’s as small as a chihuahua) and a wife of a supportive husband of 14 years.
A winner in the 2011 & 2012 Top 200 Leading Moms in Business, Jennifer Griner and the National Association for Balanced Moms promote healthy and balanced lifestyles for all mothers. NAFBM hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Moms Night Out Extravagance, The Ultimate Mama Pajama Party, The Mom Wellness Retreat, Mom Diva Shopping Bazaar and The Mom Entrepreneur Success Conference, alongside the ever popular quarterly online publication, The Balanced Mom Magazine and various workshops and seminars all dedicated to helping moms achieve that coveted balanced life.
What inspired you to get to where you are now?
After the constant tackling of her never-ending to-do list of professional and mom duties, Jennifer decided to take time out to socialize with other moms. After a small ladies’ night filled with dinner and dancing, Jennifer felt relaxed and renewed. This new found spark allowed Jennifer to become a more patient and effective mom, spearheading the creation of NAFBM. By socializing with her peers, Jennifer began to build a foundation to support healthy, balanced lifestyles for all moms. After finding they lacked time to take care of themselves in addition to raising families and building households, Jennifer vowed to start a movement dedicated to helping moms recharge, renew, rejuvenate and relax.
The result is the formation of the National Association for Balanced Moms – an organization dedicated to providing resources, motivation, inspiration and mom-centered events to moms everywhere, allowing them to Recharge their energy bucket, Renew their souls, Rejuvenate their health and Relax their minds.
What is your favorite book and why?
I have two favorite books right now. One is called EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey because it’s about how Ramsey’s financial company was built from a biblically-based foundation. He shares the journey of the company’s very humble beginnings, all the struggles and the small steps that resulted in one of the most influential companies in the nation. All the strategies he shares are based on simple and conservative ways to build a solid foundation for a thriving business that makes a difference in so many people’s lives.
The other book is called Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… And Others Don’t by Jim Collins. This is a very empirical, statistics based book that shows the difference between leaders who manage and make decisions for the good of their company versus those that manage and make decisions based on what would make them look good in the eyes of their team and the public. This is an awesome, resourceful book when managing a team and/or building a business.
What is your favorite way to stay balanced?
The main way I maintain balance in my life is slowing down to notice how beautiful and perfect things are around me amidst the chaos. My kids are smart and healthy. My husband has been through a lot with me and is still extremely supportive. I have a very supportive family. I have great friends. I meet amazing and passionate people on a regular basis. I love what I do. Typically, when I wake up and before I go to sleep, I stop and thank God for all that I have and what He has planned for me that will make a difference in other people’s lives.
Oh! And I LOVE massages! I would get those everyday if I could.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Any tropical resort destination. I love the heat, palm trees, tropical drinks, flip flops, the sounds of the ocean and water sports.
